Frontpage introduction

The goal of Faculty of Economics and Graduate School of Economics is to foster an individual, 1) who understands and deals with the future society in which informatization, globalization and aging will be rapidly progressed, 2) who possesses the professional knowledge and 3) who has acquired a wide range of culture, through small class education system and qualified campus life.
The Faculty of Economics consists of three departments: The Department of Economics, The Department of Business System, and The Department of Regional System. A student selects his/her department during the latter half of the sophomore year through choice of the seminar. The Faculty provides enhanced curriculum in which students can learn both of the theories and practices fully.
We have the workshop classes for the students of all the grades, each of which has only about twelve students. This small class system enables the students to brush up their individuality through direct interaction with professors.
The freshman year is the one of “Basic Learning”, when they learn the basics of learning at a university, including guidance of registration. The sophomore year is the one of “Intermediate Workshop”, in which the introduction to each professional area is given in a dialog form. Then, “Workshop” of the junior and the senior year is the time of professional education and researches. A graduation thesis is also planned and written during this period.

For students who wish to pursue a PhD and post-graduate study we have the Graduate School of Economics. Here we can offer courses of both an academic and vocational/professional related nature. Within the Graduate School one of the aims of the Master's degree courses is to foster the development of informed professionals who, equipped with a plethora of skills, can go on and contribute to the wider society. Students are offered two general programmes Economic and Social Policy and Community and Business Management both of which deal with issues of internationalization, the information society and regional co-operation. Within each programme students are offered the chance to focus on a particular specialism: Economic and Social Policy − here we are able to offer International Economy and Policy Science
Community and Business Management - here we are able to offer Community Policy-Making, Business Management, and Accounting
Our PhD programme which is entitled Business Administration and Regional Governance is offered to those wishing to purse a more advanced level of study. The goal of the programme is to nurture specialists who are able to analyze complex regional, economic and social issues and formulate appropriate solutions.
We very much welcome all applicants who feel highly motivated to embark upon post-graduate and advanced level study. In recognition of this we offer a special entrance exam for mature students and international students in addition to the regular entrance examination.
